NFU Council – EU Referendum

It has recently been announced by the NFU of their current position on the EU referendum. Their position is based solely on the evaluation of the agricultural merits however, they are aware that there are many wider issues at stake.

Whilst the NFU will not be actively campaigning in the referendum and will not be advising its members how to vote, they have recently submitted an update stating that NFU Council, on the balance of the evidence in front of them, the interest of farmers are best served by continuing within the European Union.

Carys Studley of Rostons comments that “it must be clear that the NFU have stated that whether the vote decided is to stay or to leave the EU, the NFU will always lobby to obtain the best possible deal for British farmers”.
